formerly known as 7000, is the musical project of Matt Bogdanowicz, a
songwriter/composer and arranger from Mississauga, Canada. His work has recently been published (Big Fish Music).
Self-taught, Matt started out doing hip hop and techno years ago, but
his ambition now lies with creating popular music in the traditional
sense; songs with universal and timeless appeal; with distinct
melodies and riffs as opposed to just hooks and trendy ingredients. He has
mastered the art
of the melody and acquired the ability to write in almost any style,
new or old.
He grew up with the wistful electronic sounds of the 80s, the
flamboyant dance-pop of the 90s and a lot of prog rock. He is also
drawn to showtunes/vaudeville, big band and traditional (pre-60s) pop.
His favorite composers are Charlie Chaplin, Jimmy Van Heusen,
Harry Warren and Frank Churchill.
However, instead of attempting to emulate any particular period or
style, he reimagines them, merges them or just follows his own
uncharted course. The resulting sound is rich, melodic and unique.
